Access tunnel to Roger-Gaudry Pavilion

Client : Université de Montréal Year : 2019 Budget : 4.4 M$ Area : 440 square meters Location : Montréal, QC

Underground link between the ramp tunnel and the Roger-Gaudry Pavilion.

To preserve the location of a tree outside, the tunnel bypasses a pit sheltering its roots, which becomes the pivot around which the pedestrian path unfolds.

In 2016, DMA was mandated to study the feasibility of building an underground link over a distance of 160 m to connect the Metro's mobile ramp to the East Wing of the Roger-Gaudry Pavilion. The backlit walls provide a bright and safe space, despite the site's inherent clearance height constraints.
The project is the first step in a multi-phase mandate that ultimately includes the construction of an elevator and the creation of an underground commercial space with a visual breakthrough. Halfway between the metro and Pavillon Roger-Gaudry, it will be a reception and activity area for students.
